XU donates land in Puerto for educational site
Cagayan de Oro will have another educational site courtesy of Xavier University (XU)-Ateneo de Cagayan.
The Jesuit-run institution agreed to donate the educational site to DepEd and to the city to be used exclusively as a public-school campus and as a technical-vocational school.
It has an area of 17,784.98 square meters, of which 10,000 sq.m. will be intended for public school campus of DepEd, while 7,784 square meters as expansion campus of the Cagayan de Oro City Technical Vocational Institute (CDOC-TVI).
Through an ordinance, the 19th City Council during its regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy authorized City Mayor Oscar Moreno to sign the Memorandum of Agreement with XU, Department of Education (DepEd) and Barangay Puerto for the purpose.
Under the MOA, the XU shall ensure that in implementing the projects, environmental management and disaster risk reduction and preparedness practices will be followed.
Meanwhile, DepEd shall facilitate and coordinate with the Local School Board and DepEd National Office for the establishment of school buildings as well as the provision of teachers and other personnel.
On the other hand, the Barangay Council of Puerto shall ensure expeditious issuance of the proper permits for the design and construction of school buildings, installation of water and electrical systems, and other permits.
For its part, the city shall provide necessary funds for the construction of the school building and its facilities at the educational site.
