VM Rodriguez seeks for morphine supply in CDO
“Morphine is very necessary in hospitals. Even if it is regulated, that is the most (widely) used medicine for severe cases of pain.”
This was stressed by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez during the 70th regular session on Monday after Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya rendered his special report on the reported zero supply of morphine in Cagayan de Oro City and even in Bukidnon and Davao areas.
The Vice Mayor stated that in the US, a surgeon is allowed to give morphine after surgery especially on patients with terminal cases.
There is no reason for the city to have no supply of the said medicine especially in hospitals because it helps patients relax and sleep as well, the vice mayor added.
Vice Mayor Rodriguez asked Councilor Maria Lourdes S. Gaane, Chair of the Committee on Health, Nutrition and Health Insurance, to ask the Department of Health on this issue.
