Trade committee to discuss Palengke-QR Plus Program

THE City Council committee on trade and commerce chaired by Councilor George S. Goking is set to discuss the Palengke-QR Ph Plus Program jointly developed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). The program aims to build digital payments ecosystem in the country by promoting cashless payments in public markets and local transportation.

Councilor Goking said the system is commendable but needs further study. Although it is for the safety of the public, still there are lots of things to consider. It takes a long process to pursue and handle especially the consuming public, he said.

The committee has invited Olegario J. Magahin, Jr. of BSP–Cagayan de Oro branch, City Director Engr. Jane J. Docallos of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), City Administrator Atty. Roy Hilario P. Raagas, Marfe D. Dacoco of the City Economic Enterprises and Business Development (CEEBA), Zelfred Anthony T. Cocon of City Management Information System Department, and Marie Claire T. Tan of Misamis Oriental Retailers Association (MISORRA), among others to attend the scheduled meeting on May 23, 2023.
