Subdivision Comm to tackle Pagatpat’s request for biodegradable facility lot

THE City Council Committee on Subdivision and Landed Estate chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas is set to discuss the request of the Barangay Council of Pagatpat to provide them with a portion of a lot under Kulago Farmers Inc. for its proposed biodegradable facility.

In its resolution, the barangay officials said that Pagatpat is now imposing the mandate of the RA 9003 also known as “A Comprehensive Ecological Solid Waste Management program”.

The program ensures the protection of public health and the environment and proper segregation, collection, transport, storage, treatment, and disposal of solid waste through the formulation and adoption of environmental practices, as stipulated in their resolution.

To strengthen the solid waste management program, the Barangay Council requested a biodegradable facility area to address the common problem of the barangay.

The Gavel learned that the identified lot under Kulago Farmers Inc., was acquired by the city government for the proposed sanitary landfill; however, it was not pursued.

It may be recalled that the Pagatpat Barangay Council requested City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to provide them with an area of 1.2 hectares to be used for the purpose which was endorsed by the City Administrator.
