Subd committee backs Brgy Agusan cemetery special permit
The City Council committee on subdivision and landed estate chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas favorably endorsed the request of Barangay Council of Agusan for a resolution supporting its application for Gratuitous Special Land Use Permit to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
The identified lot covers a portion of Lot No. 21323-CAD-369-D with an area of 30,975 square meters for the proposed Agusan Public Cemetery, located at Upper Zone 3 of the said barangay.
Barangay officials expressed its intention to acquire the area for a public cemetery site to cater the needs not just of the barangay but also of neighboring areas such as Tablon, Balubal, Puerto and Bugo.
It cited that the proposed cemetery project will address the pressing need of the constituents for an affordable resting place for their loved ones, considering that there is no more available public cemetery in the area.
With this, Councilor Cabanlas recommended the approval of the request and referred it the committee on laws and rules chaired by Councilor Ian Mark Q. Nacaya for appropriate action.
City Vice Mayor Jocelyn B. Rodriguez, Councilors Jose Pepe S. Abbu, Jr. Christian Rustico M. Achas, Maria Lourdes S. Gaane, Roger G. Abaday, and Aga G. Suan were also present during the meeting.
