Subd comm tackles ORO-TIPC request to use postal bank bldg, clarifies pact with Phil Post
THE City Council Committee on Subdivision and Landed Estate, chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas, discussed the clarificatory request of ORO-TIPC regarding the usufruct agreement between the city and the Philippine Postal Corporation which is occupying the city-owned lot at the corner of Rizal St. and T. Chavez St. near Divisoria.
During a meeting last Wednesday, Mr. John W. Asuncion, local economic development and investment promotions officer of the ORO-TIPC, said that they intend to repurpose as Negosyo Center of Cagayan de Oro the abandoned Postal Bank Building located at the said city-owned lot, since it has not been utilized for years.
The usufruct agreement for the use of the lot executed in 1971 has already expired in 2021, it was learned.
The committee requested Phil Post to consider allowing the City to use portion of the lot for its proposed Negosyo Center project, while negotiations for the renewal of the usufruct agreement is still ongoing.
A representative of the Postal Office asked the ORO-TIPC to formally write the Phil Postal Corporation so that it can be discussed by their board of directors.
Cabanlas also asked the City Legal Office to determine portion of the said lot which will be subject for renewal of the usufruct agreement.
Councilors Aga Suan and Yvy Emano also supported the move of the committee. (JBDacer/SP)
