Subd cmte backs proposed City Agri Center in Dansolihon
THE City Council Committee on Subdivision and Landed Estate chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas favorably endorsed the proposed establishment of the City Agricultural Center at Sitio Mangalay in Barangay Dansolihon.
The Gavel learned that the identified lot was originally part of the relocation site of the city, however the City Housing and Urban Development Department (CHUDD) said the area is not suitable for any housing project due to its sloping terrain.
In response to the query of Councilor Aga Suan, Engr. Bernie Daba of the City Agriculture Office said that the proposed project includes establishment of laboratories, dormitory, and other facilities that will accommodate training and seminars from different barangays.
For his part, Dr. Rob Grayson, representative of Dr. Perla Asis of City Veterinary Office, the proposed project, citing that the said area was supposed to be the site of a proposed dressing plant. However, he said it did not pass the environmental clearance from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
With this, Councilor Suan moved for the approval of the said project and referred the matter to the committee on Laws and Rules chaired by Councilor Cabanlas for appropriate action.
