Suan backs removal of penalties, surcharges, Revision of tax code

COUNCILOR Lordan G. Suan said he is happy with the special report made by Majority Floor Leader Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya Monday on the concerns of businessmen regarding business tax surcharges and penalties imposed by the city, saying it ties-in

with the tax amnesty, he has been working for in the past months.

The councilor said the committee on ways and means chaired by Councilor George Goking had a meeting early this month where the possible removal of penalties and surcharges was discussed.

He said it was also discussed that the city’s revenue code is due for amendment since it is supposed to be updated every five years.

“I think these points are valid and we should revisit this and include this in our revision of Cagayan de Oro’s Tax Code,” he cited.
