SPs oks MOA with DSWD for TARA program
THE 20th City Council, during its regular session on Monday, presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, passed an ordinance authorizing City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to implement projects, and services under the latter's Technical Assistance and Resource Augmentation (TARA) Program.
In his letter to the City Council, Mayor Uy emphasized the DSWD's role in supporting the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) by providing strategic direction for the Social Welfare and Development (SWD) sector, particularly in formulating policies and plans to enhance programs for individuals, families, and communities at risk or in need.
As outlined in the MOA, DSWD will offer technical assistance to the city in areas covered by the Technical Assistance Plan. This includes providing training, orientation, workshops, forums, conferences, coaching, and mentoring.
The city government, for its part, will submit a 3-year technical assistance plan, signed by the Local Chief Executive (LCE) and the Local Social Welfare and Development Officer (LSWDO) Head, to DSWD within five days of the MOA's execution.
The city will also provide necessary counterpart staff, logistics, and funds to support the implementation of the plan and assist DSWD in annual monitoring to address any gaps or issues.
The ordinance, certified urgent by Mayor Uy, was unanimously approved by the City Council.
