SP to tackle MOA with XU for Sciences-Econ Linkage program

THE 20th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Jocelyn Rodriguez, through the committee on agriculture chaired by Councilor Jay R. Pascual is set to tackle the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to be entered into by and between the city thru the City Agriculture Office and the Xavier University College of Arts and Sciences.

The MOA covers the agreement of the parties to forge the XU College of Arts and Sciences-Economics Linkage Program in line with its vision to be the center of excellence for economics education, research, and social development in Mindanao, the Philippines and the Asia Pacific.

It also aims to recruit economics interns who possess not only desirable traits and skills but leadership potentials as well.

Under the MOA, the XU CAS Department of Economics shall provide the faculty to act as OJT, practicum or internship coordinators.

It shall also prepare, in collaboration with the City OJT coordinator, a Training Manual or Schedule of Works for the OJT, practicum or internship program and ensure that each trainee or intern wears the necessary identification card and proper apparel while in the city hall premises during training hours, among others.

For its part, the city shall assign its own personnel as the student-trainees’ supervisors, who shall serve the program on official time.

It shall likewise accept the trainees or interns subject to its regulations and policies, among others. (SP/JAOclarit)
