IN aid of legislation, the 20th City Council headed by City Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez has constituted itself as the Committee-of-the-Whole to undertake parallel study and review of the activities on the proposed Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) in Barangay Bonbon.
This, after Engr. Alexander Generoso Casto, representative of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Central Office, and Engr. Armen Cuenca of the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office, presented the details and requirements for the implementation of the proposed project.
Engr. Castro emphasized that the city does not need to be a highly urbanized to implement such project because of the threat of water-borne diseases brought about by water pollution.
“This is of utmost importance that we have our own sanitation project”, he said.
It may be recalled that the City Council approved separate ordinances appropriating funds for the payment of just compensation to lot owners whose properties will be affected by the STP project in Bonbon.
