SP Supports KASIMBAYANAN

The 20th City Council on its regular session yesterday presided over by Vice Mayor Jocelyn Rodriguez adopted a resolution supporting the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office’s Program, entitled: Revitalized PNP KASIMBAYANAN (KApulisan, SIMBAhan at PamaYANAN), a community mobilization program highlighting the synergized and collaborative partnership of the PNP and the general public.

In his letter to the City Council, City Director Police Colonel Aaron M. Mandia said the public safety program will empower citizens to participate at the barangay level to encourage necessary community support in promoting public safety and security by suppressing criminality, local insurgency and terrorism.

The program is also a collaborative partnership of the PNP and the general public with the intervention of the religious sector towards the goal of a holistic transformation that involves the PNP and the community it serves and protects.

Maintaining peace and order is always a shared responsibility between police and the community and they should maintain an interdependent and reciprocal relationship, the official further pointed out.

The legislation was reviewed and endorsed by the committees on public order and safety and on laws and rules chaired by Councilors Romeo V. Calizo and Ian Mark Q. Nacaya, respectively.
