SP oks Gama Foods foreshore lease application

THE 20th City Council, in its regular session Monday, adopted a resolution interposing no objection to the foreshore lease application of the Gama Foods Corporation covering a parcel of land located at Purok 10, Sitio Baloy, Barangay Tablon.

This, after the said applicant has complied with and submitted its Affidavit of Undertaking in compliance with the requirement set forth by the Reclamation Board Authority and the Committee on Fisheries and Aquatic Resources during its meeting on April 28, 2023 and November 23, 2023, respectively.

Gama Foods Corporation vows to vacate the property at no cost to the government should the city's reclamation and other national government projects will be implemented in the area.

The company also commits to prioritizing employment for qualified fisherfolk from Barangay Tablon, who are members of the recognized fisherfolk association and might be affected by the project. Additionally, Gama Foods will conduct necessary meetings in coordination with the local government of Barangay Tablon to address the concerns of the affected fisherfolks' association and provide assistance to mitigate the impact of the project on the community. 

The legislation was reviewed and endorsed by the Committees on Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Subdivision and Landed Estate, and on Laws and Rules, respectively chaired by Councilors Christian Rustico M. Achas and Edgar S. Cabanlas.
