SP oks data use agreement with Epimetrics
THROUGH an ordinance, the 20th City Council, in its regular session Monday, authorized City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to enter into and sign the data use agreement with Epimetrics, Inc. for the utilization of data sets and sharing of relevant information.
Under the agreement, the local government of Cagayan de Oro shall provide the barangay-level data at weekly intervals of the number of cases and deaths on the following diseases: cholera, acute bloody diarrhea, hepatitis A, rotavirus, typhoid fever, dengue, chikungunya, leptospirosis, rabies, heat stroke, asthma, ischemic heart diseases, hypertensive heart diseases, and ischemic stroke.
Such data sets will be used by Epimetrics in the development of a linked dataset of climate, environment, socio-economic, health indicators, and an outbreak prediction model, granting that the parties make sure that no markers of sensitive personal information shall be identified.
Epimetrics is one of the partners of Thinking Machines Data Science, Inc., a leading-edge data technology consultancy on building enterprise artificial intelligence and cloud data platforms, in completing the project entitled “Linking Village-Level Data on Climatic Impact-Drivers, Socio-economic Vulnerability, and Environmental Conditions to Health Impacts Across 12 Philippine Cities”.
The ordinance was sponsored by the Committees on Health and Health Insurance and on Laws and Rules, respectively chaired by Councilors Maria Lourdes S. Gaane and Edgar S. Cabanlas.
