SP okays creation of City Education Development Office
THE 20th City Council, in its regular session Monday presided by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, enacted an ordinance creating and establishing the office of the City Education Development Office (CEDO) of Cagayan de Oro.
CEDO will focus on providing inclusive and equitable quality education, along with promoting lifelong learning opportunities for Kagay-anon learners.
The creation of CEDO expands the City Scholarships Office (CSO) functions to programming, management, and coordination for the city’s education for sustainable development and human capital development initiatives.
Councilor Suzette Magtajas-Daba, Chair Committee on Education, expressed her gratitude to the Technical Working Group (TWG), Department of Education (DepEd), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and concerned City Hall Offices for their contributions in crafting the said ordinance.
The legislation was jointly sponsored by the Committee on Education, chaired by Councilor Daba, and the Committee on Laws and Rules chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas.
