SP commends, congratulates weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz

THROUGH a resolution, members of the 19th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy commended and congratulated Filipina weightlifter Hidilyn Francisco Diaz for winning the first-ever Olympic Gold Medal for the Philippines in the 32nd World Olympics currently being held in Tokyo, Japan.

Diaz finally won the country its first Olympic gold as she ruled the women’s 55kg class, clearing 97kg in the snatch and an Olympic record of 127kg in the clean and jerk for a total lift of 224kg.

Legislators said Hidilyn has given honor and pride to the country.
