SP backs land reclamation expansion in coastal waters of Lapasan, Gusa, Cugman
THE 20th City Council during its regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Jocelyn B. Rodriguez enacted an ordinance authorizing City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to apply for land reclamation expansion covering the coastal waters of Barangays Lapasan, Gusa and Cugman to be used for industrial, mixed commercial and residential, economic zone; light manufacturing, food processing and business processing outsourcing.
In his letter to the Philippine Reclamation Authority, Mayor Uy said the city needs to address its increasing demand for readily developable lands for urban expansion and to create more land for its economic activities.
As the fastest-growing economy of Northern Mindanao, the city has achieved tremendous progress in terms of industrial, commercial and residential development in a short space of time.
It is also the center for trade, commerce, banking and education for Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Bukidnon, Camiguin and Lanao provinces.
The city also has consistently ranked among the most competitive highly urbanized cities in the country generating an average revenue of P4.480 billion a year for the last three years. It is also an awardee of the Galing Pook Award for the last three years, the city mayor further cited.
NO OBJECTION
Legislators likewise adopted a resolution endorsing and/or interposing no objection to the expansion for land reclamation to cover coastal waters of Barangays Lapasan, Gusa and Cugman, all within the territorial jurisdiction of Cagayan de Oro City to be used for industrial, mix commercial and residential, economic zone; light manufacturing, food processing and business processing outsourcing.
