SP authorizes Mayor Uy to transfer funds to DepEd-CDO

THE 20th City Council enacted an ordinance authorizing the City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Education - Division of Cagayan de Oro City (DepEd-CDO), represented by its Schools Division Superintendent Roy Angelo E. Gazo, covering the transfer of funds from the CY 2024 Special Education Fund to the DepEd-CDO for the 2024 Regional Schools Press Conference additional budget, Mayor’s Night, National Schools Press Conference participation and National Festival of Talents in the amount of P1,897,700.00.

The MOA conforms to Section 4.1 of Commission on Audit (COA) Circular No. 94-013, which reads: “The Source Agency shall enter into an agreement with the Implementing Agency for the undertaking by the latter of the project of the former”.

In his letter, Mayor Uy said the expenditure of public funds for the above-stated DepEd-CDO activities was duly appropriated and approved by the Local School Board through Resolution No. 7, series of 2024.

The said MOA was thoroughly reviewed by the City Legal Office which found the same to be in legal order.

The legislation was sponsored by the Committees on Education and on Laws and Rules chaired by Councilor Suzette Magtajas-Daba and Edgar S. Cabanlas, respectively.
