SP authorizes Mayor Uy to sign MOU with XU for CHN and SLP engagements

THE 20th City Council headed by City Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez enacted an ordinance authorizing City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to enter and sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan (XU) through its Service-Learning Program under the Office of Social Development.

The collaboration covers the implementation of the latter’s Community Health Nursing (CHN) and Services Learning Program (SLP) related engagements.

In his letter to the City Council, Mayor Uy said that the partnership with XU College of Nursing intends to enhance basic health services delivery, offer needed expertise, skills, and technology, and provide discipline-based, health-related services and interventions to select barangays in the city that have development issues and needs.

Under the MOU, XU shall coordinate and provide the city through the City Health Office with area work schedules and copies of logistical needs to facilitate their office’s support in implementing the CHN component of the BSN program.

For its part, the city shall agree to assign XU to the identified barangays such as Camaman-an, Indahag, Lumbia Macasandig, Barangay No. 24, and Upper Balulang Xavier Heights, for CHN and SLP implementation.

It shall also support and cooperate with XU in implementing CHN utilizing the Community Organizing Participatory Action Research (COPAR) framework through XU’s College of Nursing in the said barangays for school years 2022-2025, among others.

The ordinance was sponsored by the Committees on Health, Nutrition and Health Insurance and Laws and Rules chaired by Councilors Maria Lourdes S. Gaane and Edgar S. Cabanlas, respectively.
