SP asks Court to delay demolition in Bulua
DURING the 78th regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, the 20th City Council adopted a resolution requesting Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 21 Presiding Judge Mirabeaus A. Undalok to hold in abeyance for three months the demolition of a property in Anhaon, Barangay Bulua.
On June 20, 2023, a motion for the issuance of the writ of demolition was filed against the residents for constructing and planting improvements in the property of a certain individual.
They were given a reasonable time to remove the improvements but failed to comply within the fixed period set by the court. Because of this, Judge Undalok ordered on March 7, 2024 for the demolition of the erected structures in the said area.
Taking up the cudgel for landless residents, Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas, Chair of the Committees on Urban Poor and Housing Development and on Laws and Rules, filed the resolution to enable the city government through the City Housing and Development Department (CHUDD) to conduct socio-economic survey of the affected residents and to identify a suitable relocation area for them.
