SP approves SK Canitoan budget

IN its 95th regular session, the 20th City Council, presided over by Presiding Officer Pro Tempore Councilor Romeo V. Calizo, approved a resolution reinstating the 2024 budget for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Barangay Canitoan.

The budget, amounting to ₱3,973,457.00, is sourced from ten percent (10%) of the barangay’s general fund, in line with RA 10742, the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015.

This appropriation covers expenses for personal services of council members, maintenance and operational costs, and various SK youth development and empowerment programs.

These programs focus on cultural and athletic activities, health services, adolescent sexual and reproductive health, equitable access to quality education, youth employment and livelihood, social inclusion and gender sensitivity, peace-building and anti-drug abuse efforts, governance, active citizenship, capacity building, environmental protection, climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and agriculture.

The said resolution was reviewed and endorsed by the Committees on Sports and Youth Development, chaired by Councilor Kenneth John D. Sacala, and on Laws and Rules, chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas.
