SP approves MOU with UPCWSFI, XU
THE 20th City Council, during its regular session on Monday, presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, passed an ordinance authorizing City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to enter and sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of the Philippines Center for Women’s Studies Foundation, Inc. (UPCWSFI) and Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan (XU) for the UNICEF-funded project titled "Development and Learning Loss Recovery: Strengthening Systems for Capacity Building of Child Development Workers and Teachers."
In his letter to the City Council, Mayor Uy emphasized that through the MOU, the city government, through the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) office, will collaborate closely with UPCWSFI and XU to implement the project.
Under the MOU, UPCWSFI shall oversee the implementation of all project components, maintain effective coordination with key offices, and ensure adaptive project delivery through quality input and strategic advice.
XU, on the other hand, will provide administrative support, foster strong working relationships with local authorities, and collaborate with local partners.
The City, through its Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) focal person and monitoring personnel, will convene child development workers and teachers for meetings, training sessions, and other related activities. and document and report on all proceedings associated with the project.
The legislation was sponsored by the City Council Committee on Social Services and on Laws and Rules respectively chaired by Councilors Joyleen Mercedes L. Balaba and Edgar S. Cabanlas.
