SP approves MOA with BFAR-10

IN its Monday’s regular session, presided over by Councilor Romeo V. Calizo, the 20th City Council enacted an ordinance authorizing City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Regional Field Office No. 10 (BFAR-10) for the implementation of the fisheries livelihood project under the Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan (MMK), a nationwide search for Outstanding Coastal Community which started last November 16, 2016.

The MOA is a requisite for the City to officially claim its P2 million award after winning the said regional search two years ago. Under the agreement, BFAR-10 shall release the budget of the project to the city, and review and evaluate the project accomplishment report submitted by the city as to the approved plans and activities of the project, among others.

For its part, the City shall open and maintain a Special Trust Account (STA) in any government bank and issue official receipts for the fund transfer. It shall also provide support for the conduct of the project and direct all its effort toward accomplishing the purposes under the MOA.

The legislation was reviewed and endorsed by the Committees on Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and on Laws and Rules chaired by Councilors Christian Rustico M. Achas and Edgar S. Cabanlas, respectively.
