SP approves cash incentives for Kagay-anon athletes
DURING its regular session on Monday, presided over by Presiding Officer Pro Tempore Romeo Calizo, the 20th City Council approved an ordinance granting cash incentives to Kagay-anon athletes who brought honor to the city in various national and international sports competitions for the year 2023.
Sponsored by the Committees on Sports and Youth Development, Finance, Budget, and Appropriations, and Laws and Rules, chaired by Councilors Kenneth John Sacala, Yan Lam Lim, and Edgar Cabanlas, respectively, the ordinance authorized the allocation of ₱1,255,000.00 from the "Non-Office: Social Services Sector-Awards/Rewards Expenses-Sports Incentives" item in the 2024 Annual Budget.
This allocation is specifically designated to reward 46 Kagay-anon athletes who have showcased excellence in athletics, chess, boxing, arnis, table tennis, archery, dancesports, and taekwondo.
The enactment of this legislation adheres to the provisions outlined in City Ordinance No. 7927-2001, which establishes comprehensive guidelines for the provision of cash incentive awards to local athletes who have achieved notable success in national or international competitions, whether as individuals or as part of a team.
