SP approves ₱517K SK budget for F.S. Catanico
The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Barangay F.S. Catanico is poised to implement its programs and initiatives following the approval by the 20th City Council, presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, of a resolution declaring their ₱517,742.00 budget for CY 2024 as operative.
The budget allocates ₱116,855.00 for maintenance and other operating expenses. This includes expenditures for travel, training, office supplies, other supplies and materials, fidelity bond premiums, and membership dues to organizations.
A significant portion of the budget—₱282,087.00—will fund other maintenance and operating expenses, specifically for programs centered on youth empowerment and development.
These programs focus on cultural and athletic activities, health services including adolescent sexual and reproductive health, equitable access to quality education, youth employment and livelihood opportunities, social inclusion and gender sensitivity, peace-building and anti-drug abuse campaigns, governance, active citizenship through capability building and leadership training, and environmental protection including climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction and response measures.
Also, ₱118,800.00 has been earmarked for the payment of honoraria under personal services.
The SK budget is derived from the barangay’s 10% development fund, as mandated by Republic Act 10742 or the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015, which ensures funding for youth-led projects and initiatives in every barangay.
The legislation was reviewed and endorsed by the Committee on Sports and Youth Development, chaired by Councilor Kenneth John D. Sacala, and the Committee on Laws and Rules, chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas.
