SP adopts WASH projects for financial, technical assistance by NGAs

THROUGH a resolution, the 19th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy, approved the Water, Sanitation and Health (WASH) Plans and Projects for financial and technical assistance by appropriate national government agencies.

The projects include the Local Sustainable Sanitation Plan of Cagayan de Oro City for CY 2021-2030, Cagayan de Oro City Septage Management Program, and Cagayan de Oro City Sewerage Project.

City Mayor Oscar Moreno informed the legislative body that this is in response to the Department of Health (DOH) Administrative Orders 2010-0021 and 2019-0054 on the implementation of Philippine Approach to Sustainable Sanitation, and Republic Act 9275 Clean Water Act of 2004, directing local government units to prepare the local Septage and Sewerage Management Program (SSMP).

The Septage Management Program and the Sewerage Project support Ordinance No. 13827-2020, the Septage and Sewerage Management System of Cagayan de Oro City, Mayor Moreno said.

In compliance with the national policy issuances and to advance the development agenda of the city government, the City Health Office (CHO), Cagayan de Oro Water District (COWD), City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO), and other project partners collaborated in the formulation of Local Sustainable Sanitation Plan (LSSP) and the component projects for the SSMP.

The legislation was sponsored by the committees on environment, on health and health insurance, on planning, research and innovation, and on laws and rules chaired by Councilors Enrico Salcedo, Maria Lourdes S. Gaane, and Ian Mark Q. Nacaya, respectively.
