SP accredits women’s assn in LSB
THE 19th City Council during its regular session Monday presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy adopted a resolution accrediting the Barangay Macabalan Women’s Development Association (BMWDA) as a member of the city’s Local Special Bodies (LSB). This is pursuant to DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2019-71 and Article 64, Rule XIII of the Rules and Regulations Implementing the 1991 Local Government Code, or funding its project from the city or other sources as required under the COA circular pertinent.
The BMWDA is a sector organized based on understanding women’s rights, advocacies, and empowerment. It aims to build up skill capacities among women to help augment their family’s income. It consists of eleven purok leaders as elected board members with estimated growth of membership reaching 300, more or less, The Gavel learned.
The legislation was reviewed and endorsed by the committees on women and family relations and on laws and rules chaired by Councilors Edna M. Dahino and Ian Mark Q. Nacaya, respectively.
