Review of tax code, irrelevant laws eyed
COUNCILOR George S. Goking, chair of the City Council committees on ways and means and on trade and commerce, said he plans to review the city’s 2015 Tax Code.
He said it is also necessary to revisit ordinances on the operations of businesses, establishments and ambulant vendors, among others.
The councilor explained that some ordinances need to be repealed because they are no longer relevant to the present times.
Ordinances must fit the city’s present situation and must help businesses recover from their big losses. We really need it to recover from the pandemic, he cited.
We need to support, help and work together to recover the city's economy, he added.
