The City Council Committee on Public Works chaired by Councilor Edgar Cabanlas will convene today, September 25, to discuss measures, policies, and programs to declog and desilt identified manholes, canals, and drainages in district 2, this City.
It may be recalled that the committee project dubbed, “Operation Likay Baha: Kanal Limpyohan, Baha Malikayan”, has already started the city-wide flood mitigation last September 12 in selected flood-prone district 1 barangays, namely: Bulua, Patag, Carmen, Kauswagan, Bayabas, and Bonbon.
The committee partnered with the departments of the city government, national government offices, barangay workforce, volunteer groups, and students, as well as construction companies that lent equipment, gears, and materials needed for the said operation.
This time, the committee will focus its declogging efforts in Barangays Agusan, Bugo, Gusa, Lapasan, Puerto, and Tablon.
In line with this, the committee invited City Administrator Atty Roy Hilario Raagas, City Engineer Joel Momongan, CLENRO Head Engineer Armen A. Cuenca, CDRRMO Department Head, Nick A. Jabagat, and Mr. Ian Fuentes, Officer-in-Charge of the City Information Office.
Also invited are key personnel from the District Engineering Offices of the Department of Public Works and Highways-10, Department of Environment and Natural Resources-10, Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and Philippine Coast Guard.
