Public U to review CPC applications of broadcast firms

THE City Council committee on public utilities vice-chaired by Councilor Romeo V. Calizo will review the applications of two broadcasting corporations for the issuance of Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) for new radio broadcast stations.

This, after the committee received a notice from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) regarding the application of Palawan Broadcasting Corporation requesting for the issuance of CPC to install, operate and maintain an FM Radio Broadcast Station in the city.

The committee likewise received the application of Mabuhay Broadcasting System, Inc. for a CPC to also install, operate and maintain a Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcast (DTTB) Station.

The Gavel learned that the said broadcasting corporations are duly organized and existing under and by virtue of Philippine Laws, registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and grantee of a legislative franchise under RA 11541 and RA 10794.
