Public Order Comm to endorse visiting sked, health, security protocols on All Soul’s Day

IN its meeting on October 17, 2023, the City Council Committee on Public Order and Safety, chaired by Councilor Romeo V. Calizo, is set to endorse its recommendations relative to the visiting schedule and health and safety protocols to be undertaken by all private and public cemeteries and memorial parks during All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day from October 31, 2023 to November 2, 2023.

During the meeting, administrators and operators of Oro Gardens Memorial Park, Greenhills Memorial Park, Forest Lake Memorial Park, Golden Haven Memorial Park, Cagayan de Oro Chinese Cemetery, and the City Cemetery Memorial Park (formerly Bolonsori Public Cemetery) agreed to set the visiting schedule from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM on the said days.

The body arrived at a consensus after Engr. Armen Cuenca, OIC of City Cemetery Memorial Park, pointed out the ongoing renovation of the city cemetery as well as his assessment of last year’s celebration.

“Ang among observation man gud kung magpasulod pa until 10:00PM, 9:59PM pwede pa magpasulod unya mogawas didto na dayon sa 11:00PM. So dapat under 10 (PM) lang,” Engr. Cuenca explained.

With this, Calizo tasked the COCPO to do the necessary information dissemination and enforcement of the matter.

“Let us declare that at 10:00 PM nobody is inside the memorial parks anymore. Siguro the last acceptance will be at 9:00 PM, so that at 10:00 o’clock, no visitor should be inside the parks anymore. Let us be consistent (on this),” the councilor emphasized.

The matter will be endorsed to the City Mayor’s Office as basis for the issuance of a corresponding Executive Order to ensure the orderly and safe commemoration of these important occasions.
