Proposed usufruct pact for Brgy Indahag’s structural development purposes under review
The request of the Barangay Council of Indahag to utilize the property owned by the city government that will serve as structural developments of the barangay is now being reviewed by the City Council Committee on Subdivision and Landed Estate, chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas.
The Indahag Sanggunian is asking City Mayor Rolando A. Uy for the donation of a 3,000-square meter lot out of the 7,000-square meter land located in the Quarry, Touch Foundation, Poblacion. The barangay intends to use the lot as site for additional structural developments and other barangay government offices.
During the recent meeting, Councilor Cabanlas manifested that the usual practice of the city government, especially on properties that are intended for barangay use, is not through donation, but through a Usufruct Agreement. It is for the protection of the city government, he explained.
With this development, the committee referred the request back to the City Legal Office for legal opinion, recommendation, and appropriate action. Councilors Jose Pepe Abbu, Jr., and Aga Suan were present during the meeting.
