Project CDO Storm up for discussion

Efforts to establish resilient telecommunications service during disasters are underway following the request of the National Telecommunications Commission-Region 10 for the city to file a resolution adopting the establishment of Project CDO Storm.

The project plans to utilize the Cellular-on-Wheels (COW) of telecom providers in the central business districts in the City to ensure that calamities do not impede communication services.

Wireless Access Point (WAP) will also be installed so that financial transactions through automated teller machines and that online services continue to be operational even when the existing traditional networks are being disrupted.

The said measure further proposes putting up CDO Storm Centers to offer free calls and charging services for public use.

The laws and rules committee, chaired by Councilor Edgar Cabanlas, invited NTC-10 Regional Director Engr. Teodoro D. Buenavista, Jr. to discuss the matter on Thursday, February 27, 9:00am, at the City Council Session Hall. (FDCalotes/SP)
