Programs for Brgy 34 youth OK’d
THE Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Barangay 34 is set to launch its programs following the 20th City Council's approval of a resolution declaring as operative their budget amounting to ₱372,643.00 for CY 2024.
Of the total budget, ₱279,547.00 has been allocated for Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE), covering training and travel expenses, office supplies, fidelity bond premiums, and membership dues.
This portion of the budget also supports a wide range of youth empowerment and development programs, encompassing cultural and athletic activities, health and wellness initiatives, equitable access to education, youth employment and livelihood opportunities, social inclusion and gender sensitivity programs, peace-building and anti-drug abuse campaigns, leadership training, and environmental programs that promote climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction.
The remaining ₱93,096.00 is earmarked for payment of personal services.
The SK budget, which is sourced from the barangay’s 10% development fund, aligns with Republic Act 10742, the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015, which mandates support for youth-led projects and initiatives.
The legislation was reviewed and endorsed by the Committee on Sports and Youth Development, chaired by Councilor Kenneth John D. Sacala, and the Committee on Laws and Rules, chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas.
