Oro dads urge barangays to prepare for Typhoon Odette
THROUGH a resolution, the 19th City Council headed by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy during its regular session is urging all barangay local government units in the city to immediately prepare for the anticipated Typhoon Odette.
In a bid to prepare the city for possible heavy rains and flooding, the legislative body, likewise, requested private and public schools and other institutions or companies in the city to make available their respective establishments as temporary shelters or evacuation areas for the duration of the said typhoon.
Based on reports of PAGASA, a tropical storm is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on December 14, 2021. Once it enters PAR, the storm will be named Typhoon Odette.
In his reaction to the special report of Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas, Councilor Teodulfo Lao Jr. called on Barangay Councils to prepare their respective Barangay Risk Reduction Management Councils (BRRMC) to ensure the safety and protection of their constituents during the disaster.
“The barangay could prepare rescue and evacuation centers aron at least preparado ta. Moabot o dili at least in-place na atong response in case there is an emergency,” Lao stressed.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Department (CDRRMD) is very alert from time to time not only during disasters but even on emergency calls, they immediately respond, said Lao.
“At least through our resolution we would remind our barangays to prepare,” Lao added.
