Oro dads oks derby in Indahag

FINDING compliance with relevant laws, the majority of the City Council, during the 104th regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, approved the application of Mr. Victor Cabeltes, representative of Indahag Square Garden, for a special permit to conduct a 3-stag derby on December 3, 2024.

Councilor Roger Abaday, chair of the Committee on Games and Amusement, said Cabeltes complied with the necessary requisites.

Some councilors, however, questioned whether the permit is for two derbies in December, citing the documents attach to the agenda.

Games Committee Vice Chair Councilor Romeo Calizo explained  the event set on December 17 was denied since it is a clear violation of Presidential Decree 449, which mandates the holding of only one cockfight per cockpit in a month.

Calizo also bared that the application was received last October 31, this year, but got delayed because the opinion and recommendation of the City Legal Office usually takes a long time.

With this, he requested the council members to be a little flexible.

The permit for the said derby was approved by 20th City Council with 5 council members abstaining.
