Oro dads OK ₱8.8-B city executive budget for 2025
THE 20th City Council, headed by City Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, during 95th regular session presided over by Presiding Officer Pro Tempore Councilor Romeo V. Calizo, approved the annual budgets of the general fund amounting to ₱7,636,440,971 and the special account: Local Economic Enterprises/Utilities with an estimated income of ₱1,213,559,029 or a total of ₱8,850,000,000 for the year 2025.
In his letter to the legislative body, City Mayor Rolando A. Uy said the budget has been a collaborative process with every department and the city’s leadership team, thus addresses the city’s most pressing operational needs.
“We will fund the priority sectors at the right time and implement projects in place”, he cited.
The city’s budget comprises ₱2.8 billion or 31.71% intended for general public services; ₱3.7 billion or 41.89% for social services; and ₱2.3 billion or 26.40% for economic services.
In the city’s executive budget for social services, ₱2.2 billion is allocated for health, nutrition, and hospital services; ₱1.4 billion budgeted for the delivery of social services and welfare and other administrative support; and ₱441.4 million allocated for the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Fund (LDRRMF) or the five-percent calamity fund.
For economic services, the budget allocates ₱122.7 million for agricultural services, ₱59 million for veterinary services, and ₱106.3 for environmental and natural resources conservation; the ₱219.8 million and ₱88.3 million are for the operation and maintenance of the City Engineer’s Office and the Office of the City Equipment Depot Manager; while the City Economic Enterprises and Business Development Administration (CEEBDA) allocated the amount of ₱152.8 million.
In addition, a budget of ₱625.5 million is allocated to fund various infrastructure programs and projects, separate from those funded under the LDRRMF and the 20% development fund for infrastructure outlays. From this, ₱300 million will be spent for the barangay empowerment programs and projects.
