Oro dads create new standing committees

Through a resolution, the 20th City Council during its regular session presided over by City Vice Mayor Jocelyn B. Rodriguez created the committees on energy and on fisheries and aquatic resources as standing committees.

Councilor Agapito Eriberto G. Suan will serve as chair of the committee on energy with Councilor Romeo V. Calizo, as vice-chair. Members are Councilors Jay R. Pascual, Joyleen Mercedes L. Balaba, and Imee Rose P. Moreno.

The committee on energy shall study, investigate and report on all matters or proposed ordinances or resolutions related to gas, electric, and coal production, distribution, and utilization; energy policy; energy regulation and conservation; energy research and development, among others.

On the other hand, the committee on fisheries is chaired by Councilor Christian Rustico M. Achas and Councilor Pascual will serve as vice-chair. Under the House Rules, the chairman will have to select the members of the committee. Councilor Cabanlas said it will be finalized next regular session.

The said committee shall study, investigate and report on all matters or proposed ordinances or resolutions related to fisheries and aquatic resource preservation and development of fishing grounds; and construction of fish ponds, corrals, oyster beds, and regulatory measures.

For this purpose, the City Council amended Section 13 (1) and 16 of Resolution No. 14195-2022, otherwise known as the 20th City Council (Sangguniang Panlungsod) House Rules.
