Oro dads back MOA with DOH CHDNM, NMMC, PHIC
THE 20th City Council, in its regular session on Monday, presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, enacted an ordinance authorizing City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Health Center for Health Development Northern Mindanao (DOH CHDNM), Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), and the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) for the creation, operation, and maintenance of a Primary Care Provider Network (PCPN).
The PCPN seeks to enhance access to primary care services, strengthen DOH-licensed and PhilHealth-accredited ambulatory health facilities, ensure equity for vulnerable populations, and increase the number of constituents enrolled in PhilHealth, with initial patient encounters in a Konsulta-accredited facility.
Under the MOA, the DOH CHDNM will oversee the project's implementation, provide technical assistance, and offer financial support through the Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients (MAIFIP) Program.
The NMMC, for its part, will deploy essential healthcare personnel to designated areas, ensuring the delivery of medical services and diagnostic services such as ECG, ultrasound, x-ray, and laboratory services.
Meanwhile, the City Government will encourage residents to enroll in PhilHealth, facilitate initial consultations, and sustain engagement through social workers and healthcare workers.
Finally, PhilHealth will assist in the accreditation of health facilities, support PhilHealth membership registration, and reimburse healthcare facilities through the city government.
The legislation was sponsored by Councilors Maria Lourdes S. Gaane and Edgar S. Cabanlas.
