Oro Dads accredit CSOs for CDC People’s Org

The 20th City Council, in its regular session presided over by Presiding Officer Pro Tempore Councilor Romeo V. Calizo, adopted a resolution accrediting four (4) Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for purposes of their membership in the Committee on People’s Organization of the City Development Council (CDC) pursuant to Ordinance No. 14334-2022.

The CSOs are Mother Ignacia National Social Apostolate Center, Inc. (MINSAC); Aluba Homeowners Association, Inc.; Philippine Island Kids International Foundation, Incorporated; and Federation of Barangay Women Development Committee Cagayan de Oro, Inc.

A people’s organization refers to an association of residents in a barangay or barangays, or persons belonging to a particular group or sector, established to promote public interest and with an identifiable leadership structure and membership. It is often formed among the disadvantaged sectors of society, such as the farmer-peasant, artisanal fisher folk, workers in the formal sector, and migrant workers, among others.

The legislation was reviewed and endorsed by the Committees on Planning, Research, and Innovation and People’s Organization Accreditation, chaired by Councilor Ian Mark Q. Nacaya, and on Laws and Rules, chaired by Councilor Edgar S. Cabanlas.
