On medical clearance requirement:Comply but fast track measures to assist seniors in vaccination pro
The application of the guidelines set by the Department of Health (DOH) for the vaccination program is nationwide. It may not be easily repealed or modified otherwise administrative charges may be imposed to those who will not comply with its regulations.
This was stressed by Councilor Ian Mark Q. Nacaya during Monday’s regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy in response to the special reports of Councilor Roger Abaday and Councilor Maria Lourdes S. Gaane on the medical clearance requirement for all senior citizens with comorbidities.
Nacaya said the implications brought about by these guidelines is within the responsibility of local health personnel. Some mitigating measures may even be initiated to address this particular concern of the senior citizens, he said.
“If we will pass a resolution and advise the National IATF, it would take a long time and we may not reach the intention that we would like to have and provide for our senior citizens. Locally let’s comply but let’s fast track and assist our own local health personnel in charge of this vaccination program,” the councilor pointed out.
With this, Nacaya said the chair of the committee on health may facilitate and fast track the immediate installation of stations where medical doctors are in place to check, provide and even issue necessary medical certificates and clearance for senior citizens to proceed to Step 2 of the vaccination process.
