Nacaya pushes for CDO Greenbelt establishment
“ELEVATED pedestrian channels or walkways could perhaps help ease the traffic and add life to every person using the facility in Cagayan de Oro City.”
This was pointed out by Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya, during the regular session Monday presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, as he pushes for the implementation of the plan establishing the Cagayan de Oro Greenbelt. The councilor said the plan would be to replicate Greenbelt Makati which has been observed to be very effective in the Ayala area.
“It was called greenbelt not because of its theme color green, but because it showcased trees, parks, and places where one can appreciate the scenery between and among malls connecting to each other,” he explained.
He cited the plan to construct elevated walkway from Limketkai Mall to SM Downtown to Centrio Ayala and then to Gaisano City Mall but lamented that if it’s not acted upon, it will only be part of the blueprint.
“If we are in agreement to its implementation, we could connect our malls and other establishments that will form Greenbelt CDO. But to do this, our action will be to incorporate the project in the Annual Investment Program (AIP), the City Development Plan, and in the budget for FY 2024. Even if we need to secure a loan just to implement every bit and pieces of the plan, we must do so,” Nacaya stressed.
With this, Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez referred the report to the Committees on Finance, on Planning and on Public Works, and other concerned committees for study.
