MOU with DOST, DICT-Mis Or, USTP on SMART City okayed

The 20th City Council on its regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Jocelyn B. Rodriguez enacted an ordinance authorizing City Mayor Rolando A. Uy to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Science and Technology-Regional Office X (DOST-X), the Department of Information and Communication Technology-Misamis Oriental and the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP).

The MOU covers the implementation of the project entitled Support for the Development of the Cagayan de Oro as a SMART City.

In his letter to the City Council, Mayor Uy said the collaboration of the parties aims to conceptualize, develop and implement the various projects according to the SMART City concept, utilization of information and communication technology and digitalization for the City Government of Cagayan de Oro.

The project will also usher the city into a SMART, resilient and sustainable economy, he further pointed out.

The legislation was reviewed and endorsed by the committees on planning, research and innovation and people’s organization accreditation and on laws and rules both chaired by Councilor Ian Mark Q. Nacaya.
