Moreno leads sports clinic in celebration of Nat’l Children’s Month
IN celebration of National Children's Month, Councilor Imee Rose Moreno launched the Higala Badminton (Shuttle Play) event, gathering 83 children, ages 6 to 12, from diverse backgrounds, for a free badminton clinic.
Held on November 10 at the Ayala Centrio Mall Activity Center, the event aimed to introduce young participants to the fundamentals of badminton while promoting an active lifestyle.
The clinic featured professional training sessions led by certified Badminton World Federation (BWF) coaches, ensuring that participants received quality instruction. They also enjoyed various giveaways, including sports gear, snacks, and treats, adding to the excitement of the day.
Councilor Moreno, a member of the Committee on Sports and Youth Development, emphasized the value of sports in youth development: "I advocate for a cause that holds immense potential for our nation's progress – the empowerment of our youth through sports. Sports are not merely a pastime; they are a powerful tool for shaping individuals, fostering communities, and building a stronger nation."
The initiative aligns with Republic Act No. 10661, which designates November as National Children's Month, also known as "Buwan ng mga Bata," to honor the Philippines' commitment to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted on November 20, 1989.
