Moreno calls for fairness in Higalaay festival food market charges

“What is proper and just (for food market charges) should be abided by the organizers.”

CDO City Councilor Imee Rose P. Moreno

Councilor Imee Rose Moreno stressed this, during the 86th regular session of the City Council, presided over by Presiding Officer Pro Tempore Councilor Romeo Calizo,in response to a special report on the privately-organized Higalaay Festival Food Market to be held at the Rio de Oro Boulevard.

Councilor Moreno stated that vendors who plan to rent stalls will be charged P1,600 daily and on top of that an additional fee for electricity pegged at P500 for a light bulb and P1,000 for a deep fryer.

The councilor also pointed out that the organizers, who are accustomed to holding events at one of the city’s malls, need to remember that Rio de Oro Boulevard is a public property.

As representatives of the city government, the council should not allow these organizers to make excessive profits at the expense of both the public and small business owners, the lady councilor added.
