MOA with USTP for delivery of GE courses okayed


DURING the 93rd regular session presided over by Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez, the 20th City Council enacted an ordinance authorizing Mayor Rolando A. Uy to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP), to collaborate in the delivery of General Education (GE) courses with the City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO) flagship programs in Bachelor of Arts in Communications (BACOMM), Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTEd), and Bachelor in Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLEd).

Under the agreement, USTP, represented by its University System President Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II, will provide training to the faculty of the CCCDO College of Arts and Sciences with the following GE courses: Understanding the Self, Readings in Philippine History, The Contemporary World, Mathematics in the Modern World, Art Appreciation, Technology, and Society, Ethics, Life and Works of Rizal.


The said training will be considered and credited as service learning of the pool of experts who shall conduct the said training.

For its part, LGU-CDO through CCCDO shall facilitate the schedule, venue, facility, and other logistic needs for the training and monitor the implementation of the teaching of GE courses with its flagship programs.


With this partnership forged, all forms of institutional and community-related activities will become more effective and efficient.


The matter was signified urgent by Mayor Uy.
