MOA for internet services in select brygs, resettlement sites up for OK

VICE Mayor Raineir Joaquin V. Uy referred to the City Council committee on public utilities chaired by Councilor Teodulfo E. Lao, Jr. for review the request to grant authority to Mayor Oscar Moreno to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Innove Communications, Inc. covering the parties’ collaboration in providing internet access to selected barangays and resettlement sites.

Under the agreement, Innove, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Globe Telecom, shall install the needed internet equipment to provide the chosen areas access to internet without cost to the city.

As stipulated in the MOA, the city shall provide the appropriate space for the poles within the agreed WI-FI sites for the installation of the necessary equipment, among others.

In his endorsement to the City Council, Mayor Moreno said this is a crucial collaboration since it addresses the lack of internet connection among those residing in the barangays, particularly, the beneficiaries of housing programs of the government.

He said with the ongoing pandemic, the need for online connectivity is now an urgent demand among students and teachers, professionals and workers and those who are engaged in business and other forms of livelihood.
