Kadiwa ng Pangulo program up for discussion

Councilor George Goking will convene his trade and commerce committee to discuss the institutionalization of the Kadiwa (Katuwang sa Diwa at Gawa pasa sa Masagang Ani at Mataas na Kita) ng Pangulo Program in the city.

The meeting follows the endorsement of Mr. Edward G. Bhagwahi, City Director of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), regarding the advisory of the DILG Central Office for the city government to enact an ordinance, as stipulated under Section 5 of the DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2024-003.

Once the city enacts such legislation, it is bound to cover the monthly and regular conduct of KNP, the appointment of the focal person, organization of the KNP Team and its roles and responsibilities, strategize in conducting KNP like coordination among member agencies, information and campaign, reporting, monitoring and evaluation.

It may be recalled that President Bongbong Marcos said in his 2024 State of the Nation Address that “the KNP system enabled the public to buy goods at cheaper rates and the farmers to sell their crops without having to worry about transportation costs.”

Invited are Dir. Edward G. Bhagwahi, City DILG Ditector, Dir. Jose Apollo Y. Pacamalan, Regional Executive Director, Department of Agriculture, Dir. Ermedio J Abang of Department of Trade and Industry-10, and Dir. Jesusa M. Abear, Officer-in-Charge of the Department of Trade and Industry-Province of Misamis Oriental.

Department of Labor and Employment Regional Director Atty Joffrey M. Suyao, City Administrator Atty Roy Hilario P. Raagas, and City Agriculturist Paterno L. Gonzales, Jr. are also invited as resource persons on the matter.

The KNP was launched by the Department of Agriculture in 2019 to support farmers to sell agri-produce and provide market opportunities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) through local product promotion and allow producers to earn bigger income from direct selling their products instead of using trader-intermediaries.
