Judith pushes for installation of welcome arches, markers

“Kinahanglan gyud tatawon nimo ang imong mga boundaries, mga utlanan, mga dulona kinahanglan matataw, maplastar aron mapalawom nato, aron maplastar ug mas mamaayo ang atong relasyon sa atong mga silingan na mga LGU.” This was pointed out by Councilor James K. Judith II, in his special report, during the regular session Monday relative to his proposal for the installation of welcome arches and boundary markers in all of the city’s entry points.

According to the councilor, these structures will not only welcome motorists and tourists upon entering our city but will also inform them that they have reached the city’s territory. He added the installation of these arches will lead to the proper implementation of city ordinances regarding the territorial jurisdiction of the city. Being regarded as a billionaire city, Judith lamented that Cagayan de Oro has no welcome arches or signages until now.

“Inani ang atong kahimtang, walay road signages or walay gitawag nato na welcome arches or boundary markers nga maoy nagpasabot na ang usa ka motorista o turista niabot na sa (atong) dapit or teritoryo o sakop sa dakbayan sa Cagayan de Oro. Simple nga butang pero dako kaayo og epekto,” the councilor further manifested

With this, Judith urged the city to undertake the plan by not necessarily creating some lavish arch designs. Even simple and modest designs will do as long as the same are based on international standards and specifications, added the councilor.

His proposal was referred to the committees on public works, on tourism and arbitration of boundaries chaired respectively by Councilors John Michael L. Seno, Jay R. Pascual and Judith for further study.
