Judith is wary on plan to name Oro whitewater rafting as center of excellence

This was pointed out by Councilor James K. Judith II in reaction to the special report of Councilor Ian Mark Q. Nacaya during the regular session relative to his proposal to declare Cagayan de Oro River Whitewater Rafting as center of excellence and a training hub for swift water and flood rescue technician (SRT) in the city.

While commending the call, Judith, however, considered it irrelevant after the group, led by Mr. Factura, expressed disinterest in pursuing the said venture here in the city as previously discussed in the joint committee meeting of the City Council Committees on Tourism and on Environment held a few months ago.

Along with this, he also recounted the group’s complaint on the quarrying activities along the banks of the river, which unfortunately affected the natural geographic and topographical features of the Oro River specifically along the route where the whitewater rafting activities were being held.
